Summary:
Responsible for continuing therapeutic exercise program set up by PT for individual residents.
Responsible for maintaining therapeutic levels of mobility for the residents.
Responsible for maintaining the educational level of healthcare staff and residents in areas of transfer, ambulation, bed mobility and proper body mechanics.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Promote and maintain health of community by providing PT services under the direction of a Physical Therapist or Physiatrist, requesting initial evaluation or re-evaluation of patients as necessary.
Works independent of the PT or Physiatrist to provide prescribed PT interventions, exercises and assess continued need for and fit of therapeutic equipment.

Contributes to PTs' effectiveness by identifying patient issues, providing resident information and recommending options and therapeutic courses of action through assessment of individuals progress/decline.
Instructs, encourages and assists residents in all aspects of physical activities, ambulation, and activities of daily living retraining and use of supportive devices.
Provide instruction to nurses and nurse assistants for appropriate and safe use of therapeutic modalities.

hot/cold packs, electrical stimulation and paraffin wax treatments.
Instructs nurse assistants in proper performance of therapeutic interventions to assure a smooth transition from restorative to nursing maintenance exercise.
Maintain a clean, disinfected environment for group and individual exercise according to Infection Control practice guidelines.
Practices therapeutic interventions in a safe, dignified and private manner.
Adheres to the HIPPA laws and policies of Colombiere Center in protecting the privacy of the community and its individual members.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education/Skills/Abilities :
Experienced in physical therapy assisting.
Knowledge of chart documentation techniques Able to analyze patient needs and provide proper self-directed therapeutic interventions Licensed PTA in the State of Michigan WORKING CONDITIONS:
Frequent light to heavy physical activity in performing daily duties including frequent bending, lifting, pulling, pushing turning and long distance walking, etc May be exposed to potentially hazardous materials.
